POGO has a great post up, catching Duncan Hunter and Duke Cunningham pressuring Dick Cheney in 1992 to push through an earmark program in spite of real problems with the program in question:
POGO has obtained a May 1991 letter from Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-California) and then-newly minted Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham to then-Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney to move DP-2 experimental aircraft testing forward despite "bureaucratic delays." It shows that Cunningham, within less than 5 months after becoming a Congressman, was already browbeating the Defense Department to move earmarked projects forward.
Some day, if there is a just goddess, the entire GOP Congressional caucus from California will be sharing a prison cell for their corrupt ways.
And if Dick Cheney wants to make an extended visit to them--or to his former Chief of Staff--that's alright with me too.
ew,
This popped up in my RSS reader, but isn't showing up on the front page of the blog.

Typepad's been flooey.
And I thought you promised no more RSS feed (just joking--that was yesterday).

A just remand.
Did you hear Duncan Hunter malign Stephen Hadley at the Doan Oversight Hearing yesterday? It was obviously a case of mistaken identity - he corrected himself - but in the meantime the rhetoric lost the effect. How does one confuse Sandy Berger with Stephen Hadley? He must have mis-sorted him into his 'slander' column.

Neil,
That was one of the funniest Freudian slips I've seen in a long time, because Waxman actually has been trying to get Hadley to testify.

I'd like to know how close the relationship is between Duncan Hunter and Dick Cheney. EW, I wish you would do some writing about the shady Bajagua water project. Dick Cheney, Duncan Hunter, Duke Cunningham and a bunch of the rest of the So Cal Corruption Brigade seem to be involved.
