Yes, the site is messed up -- can't post normal comments, and no menu on the right of the home page.
Anyhow, Joke. Caused me to wheeze Lime Coke on the Keyboard.
Norm Coleman started in on his likely opponent in 2008 making fun of how much Hollywood Money he had accumulated in his first reporting. And yea, Al Franken has lots of Hollywood money, but he also has lots of small donations from all across Minnesota -- all adding up to 1.3 Million or so.
But Franken came back at him. "No big Pharm money here, no Big Oil, No Enron or Natural Gas Pipelines -- no Norm, none of that. I just have the corner on "Big Comedy Money."
"You know Tom Hanks Maxed out on me -- and he is still organizing fundraisers among anyone out there who is funny. I already told him that I will do no earmarks for Comedy, but he keeps on puffin. "
Anyhow, Franken now within nine points of Coleman who is at 46, and Franken totally dominates the under 30 crowd. (only hope he can get them to go to caucus, which is what counts.). Franken is essentially at the same place Wellstone was in horse race terms about three weeks before the 1990 General Election. Of equal interest, in 2002 39% of the state ID'ed as Republicans -- it is now down to 25%. And all this is about 14 months before State Convention when we will endorse. Have we peaked too soon?
what ???
you messed the site up ???
oh my GOD, The ADS Are GONE !!!
wait a minute ...
never mind
/Emily Latella
looks okay to me
and sure, Al Franken is doing Okay against Coleman, but how would he do against a competent Senator ???
anybody wanna bet that becomes a freeper talking point before they figure it out ???

Somehow reminds me of the one about the Roman Catholic presidential candidate reaching out to a room full of Jews:
"I'm in the private sector and for the first time in my life I'm earning money."
"You know that's sort of part of the Jewish tradition, and I do not find anything wrong with that. I enjoy that."
"I just want to clarify something because I didn't in any means want to infer or imply anything about Jews and finances and things," "What I was referring to, ladies and gentlemen, is the accomplishments of the Jewish religion and the Jewish people. You have been outstanding businesspeople and I compliment you for that and if anybody took what I said wrong, I apologize. I may have mischaracterized it. You are very successful. I applaud you for that."

Thanks for that. I had no idea Franken was within striking distance of that despicable trollop, Coleman. Keep hope alive.

Peaked too soon? We're just getting started!
Hot Tub Tom's trial, the Wilsons' civil trial, and the subpoenas and indictments are flyin'.
Invest in popcorn stocks, and keep those beverages away from the keyboard.

Sara,
The site IS still messed up; no right hand column content is visible. However, I (and others) can comment (and then the right hand column content reappears). From my point of view (Mac OSX 10.3.9 using Safari 1.3.2) the problematic area is ew's post on 4/25, "The Other 13", which does a weird jump in the middle of the post back to Sept 30, 2006.
If I access "The Other 13" via Archives, it also breaks there, but with the "missing" right column data. No earlier April posts are visisble to me via Archives. However, I could access the "missing" April posts by working backwards via "Recent Posts".

damn
great retort.
i'd love to hear more hard responses to republican crap like this one from franken.
if he doesn't get to congress, maybe he can have a great career educating democratic candidates how to do a good verbal smack down.
they sure could use that training.
