It is truly sad to see so much amazing writing and great conversation receive zero comments.

Just to let you know there are no hard feelings

The problem is, what is there to add?

thats the point. Nothing was added, so why bother?

I would say, if anything, the blasts will STRENGTHEN the resolve of G8 to pass African debt relief, if only to show Al Qaeda that the blasts had no impact on G8 meeting. (that is, if the G8 was planning to pass African debt relief in the first place)

Amazing writing and great converstaion. Thanks.

Exactly my point. There is nothing to add, so lets add some speculation that the bomb blasts will weaken intl resolve on African debt relief.

Isnt it more likely that the bomb blasts will STRENGTHEN G8 resolve to follow through with their meeting agenda, if only to thumb their noses at Al Qaida?

But amazing writing and great conversation. Thanks again.

Not to harp, but these comments of mine are posting so slowly that I was even able to edit the last one while waiting for the first two versions to post. I hit the send button three times.

You would think BIPM was crossposting "Tears and Fears Thursday here, or something, its so slow today....

Well call me cold hearted but african problems are mostly political.

rampant corruption.
elites steal from their countries and put money in swiss accounts.
tribal wars that result in genocide.

a us general (I think?) said it best about somalia, and, by extension about africa (paraphrasing):
you cannot help a poor old grandmother in there and give her food and ask her for peace - she will accept your food and help, but she will use it to kill her enemies, because she knows that is the only way for peace for her.

sad yet true.

until the political situation is fixed, no amount of money and debt relief will help.

And in fact, nothing was accomplished, despite considerable claims to the contrary from Blair, Geldoff, et al.

Most of Africa will bleed on.

why should you give a shit,if thousands of Kids die daily in Africa, when the Males that produce them don't care??
The problem will only get worse feeding them as the next Generation of twelve-year-olds start breeding.

It would be great if the Africans get a debt relief. This will help the growth of their economy and will improve the state of the people in the country
